How to Pay PTA Tax in Pakistan: Full Step-by-Step Process
Register on the DIRBS portal, generate a PSID and pay your mobile phone tax through any bank or mobile wallet.
Step 1: Create a DIRBS account
Go to dirbs.pta.gov.pk and register as an 'Individual - Local' or 'Individual - Overseas' user. You will need your CNIC (or passport for overseas Pakistanis), an active mobile number and an email address.
Step 2: Add your device
Log in and add your device by entering its IMEI number(s). The portal will show the applicable duty and taxes for that specific device based on its declared value.
Step 3: Generate a PSID
Confirm the details to generate a PSID (Payment Slip ID). This is a unique number that represents your tax challan and is valid for a limited time.
Step 4: Pay the tax
Use the PSID to pay through internet banking, ATM, a bank branch, or mobile wallets like JazzCash and Easypaisa under the FBR/1-Link 'PSID' option. Payment usually reflects within a few hours.
Step 5: Confirmation
Once payment is verified, PTA updates your IMEI to 'Compliant' on DIRBS and your phone continues to work on local networks permanently. You will receive an SMS confirmation.
